Lot Clearing for New Homes in Hartford & Middlesex County
Lot clearing for a wooded lot that's about to get a house. We take out the trees, stumps, roots and rocks where the house, the yard and the trucks need to go, and leave standing what you want kept.

What a Lot Needs Before the Foundation Goes In
Cutting the trees down is only part of the job, because a house lot has to be clear below the surface too.

Trees and brush
We cut and clear them from the house footprint and the work area around it. If there are trees you want to keep, let us know and we'll work around them.
Stumps and roots
We pull them out with the root ball so the ground doesn't settle later under the house or the yard.
Stump removalRocks and boulders
We dig them out and move them off the spots where the house and the lawn will go.
Then the dig
Once the lot is clear, we can dig the foundation with the same machines.
Foundation excavation- Our family builds homes too, so we know how a builder needs a lot cleared.

Permits, Wetlands and the Site Plan
Some lots need sign-off from the town, or its inland wetlands commission, before clearing starts. Ask your town hall early, especially if there's a stream, a pond or soggy ground on or near the lot.
If you have a site plan, or the surveyor has already staked the house, please send it along. It shows what has to come out and what can stay, so we don't clear more than you need.
The property owner applies for the town and wetlands approvals, and we can tell you what towns usually ask for.
We file the Call Before You Dig (811) request before we start, so buried lines are marked before any stumps come out.

Where the Trees and Stumps Go
Clearing even part of a lot makes a big pile of logs, brush and stumps. What happens to it affects the price, so it's worth asking about before you book.
Depending on the job, we either haul the logs, brush and stumps away or chip the brush on site. Your quote will tell you which, with the cost included.
If you'd like to keep the logs for firewood, just mention it when you ask for an estimate.

Lot Clearing Cost
Every lot is priced on its own, based on the things below.
Photos, the lot size and the site plan if you have one are enough for us to get started.
- How much of the lot is cleared: the footprint and a work area, or the whole thing.
- What's on it: big trees, thick brush and saplings each take different time.
- How many stumps: each one is pulled on its own.
- Rocks and ledge: boulders take time to dig out and somewhere to go.
- Slope and wet ground: both slow the machines down.
- Trees you keep: working around them takes longer than clearing everything.
- The debris: hauling it away costs more than leaving it on site.
Taking the trees, brush, stumps, roots and rocks off the part of the lot where the house and yard will go. For a house, the stumps and roots have to come out as well as the trees.
The house footprint, the way in for trucks, room around the house for the machines and the trades, and where the utilities run. Your site plan shows most of it. The rest can stay wooded.
Sometimes it does. Some towns, and lots near wetlands or water, need approval first, so it's worth checking with your town before any trees come down.
Yes, we can do both. We clear the lot first and then dig the foundation with the same machines, so you don't need to hire a separate company for the dig.
